Anorexia Claims French Model Isabelle Caro at 28
French model Isabelle Caro passed away not too long ago from her battle with anexoria at the age of 28.
Caro was hospitalized for 15 days due to respiratory complications and fatigue, but the cause of her death has not yet been declared.
Caro made headlines around the world for her campaign against anorexia by posing nude and exposing her skeletal framed body. She admitted in interviews how the eating disorder has been with her since childhood linking to her mother’s depression and her father’s absence.
For years Caro was in and out of the hospital at weigh-ins as low as 51 pounds. She slipped into a deep coma but to doctor’s surprise, woke up successfully.
Caro has been a poster woman to the eating disorder hoping people suffering from it would hear her story and seek help for it. Anorexia, an eating disorder found commonly among young models in the fashion world.

Dubreuil-Prevot said she did not know the cause of death but that Caro “had been sick for a long time,” referring to her anorexia.Caro featured in an ad campaign by Italian photographer Oliviero Toscani in 2007 for an Italian fashion house. Under the headline “No Anorexia,” images across newspapers and billboards showed Caro naked, vertebrae and facial bones protruding.Caro said she had suffered from anorexia since she was 13.

Anorexia may be treated in an outpatient setting or with hospitalization. Intravenous feeding tubes are used to correct malnutrition and a weight gain goal of one to three pounds per week are considered safe.
Psychological therapy and behavior therapies are also employed to treat anorexia. Still, anorexia is a psychiatric condition with the highest mortality rate. An estimated six percent of anorexia victims die from complications to anorexia.
