Is Big Sean the next Prince of Fashion?

I’ve heard about G.O.O.D Music rapper Big Sean for quite some time. He was pegged as the protege of Kanye West for quite sometime, not just lyrically, but fashion wise.
That’s a huge title. Kanye West is one of the fashion pioneers responsible for a setting trends in hip-hop. True story.
Kanye raised the bar. So, for Big Sean to be considered his protege, I needed to do some research on him.
His style is different. I’ll give him that. He’s not afraid to be different; while that can be a gift, it can also be a curse. Take this outfit from the 2011 BET Awards, for example. It’s different, yes, but also confusing. It’s so many styles in one and makes very little sense.
However, I have seen him clean up nice. In this XXL feature , for instance, he showed a more mature swag that came off impressive.
But with photoshoots come stylists, wardrobes, bells and whistles. True style can be done effortlessly on one’s own. At least, that’s my philosophy.
Big Sean shows promise. There are definitely some elements of a trend setter that are there: the chains, the handkerchiefs, the brooches. But it can look very forced when done all at the same time.
But Kanye was a youngin in this here game once, and that’s what we have to keep in mind. It takes a while to develop your personal style and execute it effortlessly.
Is he on the way? I’d say so. Is he there? Nah.
The key with this fashion thing is consistency. And the young man is consistently fresh. He’s always in some good pieces; it’s the arrangement that can be a hit or a miss.
For the most part, I dig it. I’m always a fan of anyone who has a love for fashion, It’s all in the execution.
He’s got some huge shoes to fill if he ever plans to reach Kanye status one day. But there’s some competition out there, and I’m not sure he’ll get to that finish line first.
He’s got a great start though.
Do you think Big Sean is the next Prince of fashion?
