2 Chainz Confirms Def Jam Deal
2 Chainz now has a new label to go with his new name. The rapper formerly known as Tity Boi has confirmed to xxlmag.com that he’s officially signed to Def Jam Records. The Atlanta MC initially played dumb when the hip-hop mag presented the question, but eventually confirmed the deal.
Chainz was previously inked to Ludacris’ DTP imprint as one half of Playaz Circle. He says he’s still working with Luda but in a different capacity. “I’m actually behind [Ludacris], he’s still my homie,” Chainz says. “I just took another route as far as running my own company and bossing up. But on the other hand, I’m still working with him. He has an album coming out this year, as well. Matter of fact, we are label mates, now, which is crazy. So, yeah, that’ll be cool. I’m looking forward to that.”
Once a member of Luda’s DTP posse, 2 Chainz has evolved into one of the hottest solo rappers in the Dirty South. He’s kept busy with a string of big name collaborations and mixtapes, including the 2Pac-inspired Trap-A-Velli and the widely praised T.R.U. Realigion.
