She’s been a fixture on fashion blogs lately, including our own. And now the rest of the world is catching on to the style maven that is Solange Knowles, 25. The current issue of the LA Times applauds Solo for her fashion exploits, declaring boldly in its title: “A style star is born.” No small praise.
“It’s her ability to meld traditional basics in highlighter colors with sporty knits and tribal prints,” writes Melissa Magsaysay, “and her refreshingly understated appeal that have drawn attention from the fashion set.”
Indeed. Solange has been killing the fashion game for the past couple years. She’s been mixing up vibrant colors and rocking fresh African prints (like the Box Kitten getup pictured above). Impressive still, she’s turned her passion into a part-time profession. At the top of the year, Solange inked a modeling deal with IMG to expand her fashion hustle. At the top of the month, she started a style journal with Vogue UK to share her daily outfits for the month of February.
For her LA Times interview, she wore: a red M Missoni knit skirt, neon yellow Alexander Wang sweat shirt and a leopard print By Malene Birger coat, crowned with a pop of MAC So Chaud orange lipstick (below).
