On the Rise: Martyna Baker

In a world overrun with temporary trends, electronized beats and an abundance of over activity — in what seems to be an effort to distract from all that’s beneath it — one girl and her guitar stand out from the crowd.
Simple yet poetic lyrics and goosebumps-inducing vocals showcase British born singer/songwriter Martyna Baker’s inherent ability to peer into your soul and translate what he sees into music.
“I think when songs are honest, they’re beautiful,” Baker recently said her songs when asked whether they’re more a case of beauty or truth. This is something she capitalizes on with her lyrics and the crystal clear view she invests in her heart and soul.
And with influences like Alanis Morisette and Paul Simon, it’s easy to see where she gets that vibe from. If there was any doubt that, at the heart of it, we are all the same, the relatability of Martyna’s lyrics render that doubt irrelevant.
Interestingly, despite her undeniable talent, little is known about this 25-year-old singer/songwriter and unsigned artist who recently released The Demos – a collection of five tracks. But when talent is so substantial, that is sure to change.
This is not a case of Martyna Baker needing to garner the attention of the world. It’s the other way around.
