Beyoncé: “I Was Here” (World Humanitarian Day Performance)
Beyoncé is marking World Humanitarian Day with a poignant video.
The music video for “I Was Here” was filmed at the United Nations headquarters a little over a week ago. Bey was saving it for World Humanitarian Day (August 19).
It starts with a simple message: “One day, one message, one goal. To inspire people all over the world to do somethin good, no matter how big or small, for someone else.”
Enter Beyoncé, draped in a flowing white gown. She proceeds to belt out a powerful rendition of “I Was Here,” as images of humanitarian projects flash across a large screen. “I wanna leave my footprints on the sands of time,” Beyoncé sings with raw emotion. Goose bumps.
Bey is urging all her fans to join the humanitarian movement by doing something small for someone, anyone. Hop on over to whd-iwashere.org to learn how you, too, can say, “I was here.”
