Rita Ora Gets Frank in Vogue
Not even Rita Ora could’ve predicted the dizzying heights of success she’s experiencing right now. Ora’s journey, a few bumps notwithstanding, has fashioned her into a hot commodity in pop. It’s seen her sign to one of the most powerful labels around and rock arenas from London to New York City. And the 21-year-old blonde bombshell is just getting started.
In a candid interview with Vogue UK, Ora talks about her rise to stardom. Excerpts below.

On her success:
“You know when you’ve wanted something for so long?” she says a little later, her voice rising from hushed whisper to loud incredulity. “You want it so much that it’s not possible for it not to happen in your mind? But when it does happen you’re not prepared for the actual experience.”
On dealing with superfans
“All these girls were coming up to me with tattoos of my name on their arm. Girls with blonde hair and red lips. I couldn’t believe the effect I’d had!”
On Beyonce’s influence/advice
“I used to watch her in Destiny’s Child. I used to study her riffs, her control, her facial expressions. I was such a big fan of hers,” she says, clearly still adjusting to her idol becoming her mentor. Beyoncé, she adds, encouraged her to stand by her decisions. “When it comes down to the music, it’s just you and the microphone. It’s not you and the record execs. Some people get mad – you’ve got to let them get mad.”
