It’s a glorious day in the Carter household. Hip-hop’s royal child, Blue Ivy Carter, turned one today.

I don’t envy family members thinking of birthday presents for young Miss Carter. That old question about what to give someone who has everything springs to mind. Still, Blue is already blessed with the gift of having two massively influential parents, a great support system and, above all, the knowledge that she could grow up to become anything she wants. That’s worth celebrating.

Happy Birthday, kid.
