Devin the Dude and the Coughee Brothaz at the Scoot Inn of Austin, Texas
Devin the Dude, Coughee Brothaz, Jean Grae and Invincible headlined an outdoor performance at Austin, Texas' famous Scoot Inn on Saturday night. All evening long the air was filled with the smell of cannabis. Not the typical Mexican brown most people associate with Texas, but that sticky icky. This is par for the course when it comes to any concert featuring Devin and his fans know it. At one point, as seen in the above photo, Devin was struck between grabbing the blunt he had passed off to the crowd or the fat sac of chronic an enthusiastic fan was trying to hand off to him.
The music's intensity matched that of the haze blanketing the crowd, and at many moments during Jean Grae and Invincible's performance I was struck by the passion of the two MC's. You could see them tossing back drinks together as Devin performed, favoring liquor over the ganja, even if momentarily. The camaraderie of the group as the show ended was clearly evident and Devin was nice enough to meet and greet a large selection of fans before finally stepping off stage to enjoy the green he scored.
