While we eagerly await the possibility of a biopic on President Obama (paging Will Smith...paging Will Smith...), word hit that the rights to a documentary titled By the People: The Election of Barack Obama has been acquired by Sony Pictures. The doc will show exclusive footage chronicling President Obama's campaign trial, from his announcement of running for the presidency to Election Day and finally to the historic inauguration. The project is produced and co-financed by Class 5 Films, which is actor Edward Norton's company, and will receive domestic theatrical distribution in the states thanks to HBO Documentary Films. "From the start, it was very important to us to share this film with as broad an international audience as possible," said Norton. "And we're really thrilled to be partnered with Sony in trying to achieve this." There has yet to be a release date announced for the film, but it's a safe bet that once By the People hits theaters, it'll rake in more dough than that B.S. W. biopic.

Will Smith, i think its time to go ahead and accept your next grammy nomination. Obama is an icon beyond words, a mentor, a leader, a reason to have faith and belief. (I could go on forever but then i would be late for work) And Will Smith has the talent and the ability to play anybody he wants. I give it two thumbs up already and its not even out yet.
