Memphis Bleek's career has spanned over a total of 13 years, but his friendship with Jay-Z has lasted longer than what we know. Roc fans know about Bleek's success or the coulda-shoulda-woulda fame he could have had or perhaps the ample amount of opportunities to really be bigger than life. So does Bleek, but he has a different way about looking at life.
Bleek puts life in fate's hands. If he was meant to be famous or as big as the most comparable person in The Roc camp, Kanye West, it would have happened already. He's cool where he's at, but now he's trying to start a new adventure in his life. When Jay-Z left Def Jam, so did Bleek. But when Jay-Z started RocNation, Bleek confidently declined the deal. After a joint venture with Mass Appeal Entertainment, Bleek has become his own man career wise with his record label Get Low Records.
Being the CEO and artist of Get Low Records means he can prevent a Déjà vu from occurring like his last album
534. He felt Def Jam dropped the ball on a good album and he may be right. Swizz Beatz produced hit "Like That" still gets heavy rotation in the clubs to this day. As a business man, Bleek can control marketing, advertising and the fate of his next album
The Process that will hit stores November 24th. And for his artist G Baby, they both have aspirations to do big things, better things and wiser things, but always putting it in fate's hands.
Part 1: Bleek talks about his brolationship with Jay-Z and why he feels he's out of his league. He also talks about why fame, females & money would never divide their friendship, his thoughts on Kanye West's success with Jay compared to his own, memories of when Hov checked his ego, and his view about the fate of his career.
Part 2: These days Jay-Z has been under a lot of ridicule from other rappers and Bleek tells us why he's been very quiet about his position. He also talks about Jim Jones, The Game, T-Pain and gives a warning to internet bloggers who feel it's OK to throw him under the bus on their sites.
Part 3: Finally Bleek tells us about his new situation with his label Get Low Records, his album
The Process. His artist G Baby shares his reason to signing to Bleek's label.
