Sneakers 4 Success Brings Sneaker Culture To NYU

It’s no secret that sneakers play a huge part in culture, music, and fashion. Sneaker culture has a lane of its own and there are a myriad of things fueling its growth. Sneaker 4 Success is an organization that looks to engage, inspire, and empower people through sneaker culture. Their youth organizations are geared towards helping young people recognize that there is more to the culture than just the actual shoe. Their first State of the Culture Panel Series was a huge success, a sure sign that there is more to come.

Bringing events to the community is an important part of educating people about what’s out there.

The panel was represented by photographer Jon Lopez, Mellany Sanchez, Jason Faustino, and Matthew Ting. The moderator and panel gave folks some serious sneaker culture ‘Cloth Talk’.

Mellany Sanchez dropped gem after gem and reminded folks that hard work is key to everything. The sneakerhead from the block can turn into the next sneaker designer for his favorite brand, if his passion is strong and she/he works hard enough. Matthew Ting and Jason Faustino gave folks some insight into the retail and marketing aspect of sneaker culture.
