News of new music dropping is always good to hear. A Tribe Called Quest took a hit when they lost Phife Dawg (Malik Taylor). Due to health complications, he passed away earlier this year. What we didn’t know is that ATCQ was already working on an album. The project, We Got It From Here, Thank You For Your Service is due to drop next week.
This album is a combination of memories and a life celebration as it started with Phife and had to be completed without him. This is ATCQ’s sixth album and it comes at a much needed time. The album features all of the Tribe members, including fourth member Jarobi White. They worked with Busta Rhymes, who is considered a very close friend of the Tribe. He’s collaborated with them on projects before and most notably on “Scenario”. We will also hear features from K. Dot, Elton John, André 3000, and Jack White to name a few.
Prior to working on this new album, they had reunited on a variety of stages for performances. While there was no public talk about an album, many of us secretly hoped for another chance at new ATCQ music. We will get the chance to hear them on November 11th. This is there first album in 18 years. It will be a bittersweet moment for sure.
