The Competition | The 59th GRAMMY Best Rap Album Nominees Are Solid…For A Change

Most hip hop heads are not fans of the awards shows. The awards shows have rarely represented the genuine sound of hip hop that a lot of the music is built on. Hip Hop is different for everybody. As times change, the standards that are set for quality music shift. For a while, we’ve watched some pretty sketchy artists slip through the cracks and earn a lot of undeserving praise. Thank goodness for the artists who really love what they do because they came through this year. The nominees for the 59th Best Rap Album are solid and picking a winner might be tough.

This year, Chance the Rapper (Coloring Book), De La Soul (And The Anonymous Nobody), DJ Khaled (Major Key), Drake (Views), Schoolboy Q (Blank Face LP), and Kanye West (The Life of Pablo) secured spots in this category. This makes an interesting awards race for a change. All of the above albums are packed with bangers and it will be interesting to see who goes home with top honors.
