The 2017 Tribeca Film Festival is set to kick off next month. The final list of features, documentaries, and showings has been released. These latest releases added a lot of swag to the festival. Celebrating Pop Culture films has become a thing. A lot of special movies have milestone anniversaries this year. They will be celebrated accordingly at Tribeca Film.
For those that don’t know, Robert DeNiro is the brains behind the festival. To his honor, The Godfather will celebrate its 45th Anniversary of its theatrical release. There will be a double screening of The Godfather Parts I and II. The screenings will be followed by a cast reunion and conversation with Francis Ford Coppola, Al Pacino, James Caan, Robert Duvall, Diane Keaton, Talia Shire, and Robert DeNiro.
Other movies celebrating an anniversary are Aladdin, Reservoir Dogs, and Bowling for Columbine. Aladdin will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a special sing-along screening. Reservoir Dogs is scheduled for a screening as well followed by a conversation with director Quentin Tarantino. Michael Moore will be on hand to discuss Bowling for Columbine after a special screening on April 20th, the exact day the horrific school shooting took place.
The Festival includes a host of Galas and Special Screenings. Aside from docs about Zac Posen and Mike and the Mad Dog (ESPN), Sean “Diddy” Combs will premiere Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop: The Bad Boy Story documentary. Tickets and passes for the festival can be purchased here. The 16th annual Tribeca Film Festival happens April 19 – April 30, 2017.
