Powamekka Cafe | Tupac Inspired Pop-Up Eatery Opens For One Weekend Only In NYC

Tupac left a lot of unfinished business when he was abruptly taken from us back in 1996. He was working on a myriad of projects and had a ton of ideas. Little by little, people are taking those ideas and trying to bring them to life. Sweet Chick restaurant  on NYC’s Lower East Side is paying homage to Tupac’s restaurant dreams. They are opening ‘Powamekka Cafe’ Pop-Up eatery at their shop this weekend.

Powamekka Cafe is a Tupac-inspired pop-up eatery. This idea for this cafe was discovered amongst some of the notes and sketches that Tupac left behind. Apparently, he had dreams of opening a restaurant and this was going to be its name. This weekend’s Pop-Up Cafe has everything the famed rapper would have wanted. The menu consists of some of Pac’s favorite foods…meatloaf, gumbo, and his cousin Jamala’s fried chicken wings. The restaurant is outfitted with all kinds Pac memorabilia including some childhood photographs, poetry writings, and some other cool things from some of his favorite artists.

Powamekka Cafe will be open on Friday 4/7 from 11 a.m. – 2 a.m. and Saturday & Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. Stop by the pop-up on 178 Ludlow Street.
