Summertime is the best time for BBQs and social gatherings. Actually, there’s never a bad time for a BBQ, especially one for a good cause. Chef @Vokarondon and Chef Jade @MIB_Jade are doing big things next weekend. They’re putting together a Pop-Up BBQ in Brooklyn and serving up some delicious dishes. What’s better than that? We would say nothing except these 2 are cooking for a cause. A portion of the proceeds from this pop-up will fund amazing cooking opportunities for African American culinary students.
The proceeds will allow Chef @MIB_JADE to teach African American students the art of line cooking and cover the costs for 15 people to apply for and receive their food handlers license. In addition, up to 4 students will be given the chance to intern at a restaurant and cook alongside an African American Sous Chef. This is the perfect opportunity to support a Black Owned endeavor that will give back to its community. Not all students get the opportunity to rub shoulders with a top chef so this is pretty cool. There is so much promise in supporting the education of others and sharing the tools they need to build.
The menu boasts everything from Seafood Skewers to Jerk Salmon Burgers to Flank Steak Tacos w/ Mango Slaw. What summertime shindig is complete without Mexican Corn on the Cob and Truffle Mac & Cheese. The Chefs behind the Pop Up come with solid reputations so you better believe that your belly will be pleased. If you want to come through and support please RSVP here —> [email protected] and the location will be sent with confirmation.
